SCUTTLE!!!!!!!!!!!

So i can honestly say that i have never considered myself as a disney character. i know, surprise. but i was talking to my good friend, drew mackay, and he made a pretty good ananlysis. well, i agree with him. i am most like scuttle, the seagull from the little mermaid.

there are a couple of obvious reasons, for example i make a lot of loud annoying noises and i love the ocean.

but when i started thinking about it more i realized that drew really hit the nail on the head. besides being loud, obnoxious, and a sucker for warm weather (sunny, sandy, soaking wet beaches with no clouds in the sky kind of days where all you can think to do is go on a run down the beach) i am a lot more like a seagull then most would think. for instance, scuttle is a really happy-go-lucky kind of bird. i am someone who likes to laugh and enjoy life as it comes. let's face it, i would rather be happy and burst out into random song than sit mute on a boat trying to be mysterious and keep my name a secret. i am not the kind of person to keep my feelings or thoughts under wraps...i am a straightforward girl. i guess i could be considered a pretty outgoing person who really couldn't care less what others think of me and for some reason enjoy being the center of attention. i like the way i am, well i could go for a little more intelligence or feminine features, but all in all i'm good to go. i am also like scuttle in the fact that people have a hard time taking me seriously. it would appear that i am oblivious to everything going on around me, but really i usually know what is going on.

ya, well i would love to go on talking about myself and all but ya it kinda makes me feel uncomfortable so i think this is a good place to stop.

LIAR!....

the truth is that i only dont really like pirates at all actually. i just feel bad for them because they get scurvy. so pretty much i think that pirates either need to eat more citrus or stay out of the ocean.

I love pirates!

HI!!! I love pirates!! All kinds of pirates. From your orange bandana bearing pirate, to your parrot shouldering pirate. I just love them all.

Carb loading and putting on the Pounds!!

So ever since i started running competitively in high school i have had this high carb type of a diet. i always craved foods like pasta before and after practices and meets. i would make sure to load up on the carbs because not only would it provide me with the energy i was in need of to keep up with the competition, but i thought it would help me keep on weight. keeping on weight was and is a big deal to me because i have a hard time gaining weight and i honestly feel that it is one of the most annoying things EVER! so i have tried a lot of different things in trying to gain weight such as downing spoon fulls of peanut butter, protein shakes, not working out, etc but cant seem to beat the whole metabolism problem. i am really sick of being too skinny and having the body of a 12 year old boy. so i am sure this probably sounds weird to you, but i need some suggestions on how to GAIN weight!

HOTT dog!!

i just think it is so strange how certain situations cause different cravings. take today for example, i went to the byu vs. uvsu baseball game this afternoon and once i walked in the park i could smell the hot dogs. everywhere. as the game progressed and i got more into it, i found myself craving a hot dog. i never eat hot dogs, unless i am at a baseball game because that is the only time i ever crave them. i just find it interesting that just because that is the expected snack of choice at baseball games i will eat it, no matter how gross i think it is. becuase it is good for those few moments in the bleachers. now i know that hot dogs at baseball games is not the only example of situational cravings, but i still find it weird.

seriously... what's the point?!!!

so my question is why do food companies find it necessary to charge more for organic food then for their highly processed products? i mean honestly, it takes so much more time and effort for them to take out all of the natural nutrients that come from the original food and then to poor them all back in and call it "fortified". so why turn around and charge more for the "real" and "natural" food? it's not like they made it better for us using their terrible technology. who gives them the right to charge more for what nature created and force us to buy their cheaper and less healthful food? i guess i just dont see the logic in that.

Chocolate as ART

so i actually sat down and watched the food channel the other day and watched a chocolate competition. it was actually really interesting. there were about four "well-known" chefs competing against eachother. they each had to create their own interpretation of the word "dream" by using chocolate. it was amazing some of the things they came up with and i am sure they had to practice all of that before hand.

one of the chefs did "the american dream" which included eagle wings, the flag, and all sorts of patriotic symbolism. other chefs took a more literal approach by making chocolate statues of dream catchers or marble clouds.

it was pretty entertaining and i am curious as to what they did with all that chocolate when they were done....
mmmmm!!! i want chocolate!

AuGUSt RusH

k so pretty much yesterday was valentine's day and seeing as i definately do not have a "man" of my own i didnt have a valentine. so instead i hung out with some girl friends. it turned out to be a pretty good day full of MOVIES and LOST.

so all i really have to say is that step up 2 was great, not as good as the first of course because channing tatum was hardly in it. but it was still good and had a pretty sexy rain dance at the end. so thanks to that movie i am totally craving dancing and i am going this weekend... you are all invited to join me.

after that movie we came back and had our weekly "lost" party with some random dish. last night it was strawberry cream pie. p.s. i dont even know why i watch "lost" because i always end up just a little bit more confused then the week before. but aw well, good times.

then we all went back to the theatres to watch August Rush. i went thinking that i was going to fall asleep, but i was surprised. I FELL IN LOVE WITH THAT MOVIE!!!!!! i highly recommend it to everybody. and if you dont like it then i will be in complete shock/be dissapointed. i cant stress enough how much i loved that movie. i am still so happy from it....so if you plan on seeing it let me know because i am so there!

Hey, when you're hungry you're hungry

O man!!! can i just say that i really want a hamburger right now. It's kinda humorous that you do not ever really realize how hungry you are until somebody starts talking about food. Take for instance, right now. i had no clue that i was hungry until Mrs. Larsen put up the projection of a "hamburger paragraph". haha i know it sounds crazy that a piece of paper or the idea of forming "the perfect paragraph" could make me hungry, but i think it was the picture of the smiling hamburger that got me. To be totally honest though anything meaty sounds good right now, like a fatty carne asada burrito or a slab of ribs.
my question from this is what is it that makes us have certain cravings at certain times? why do i want meat right now instead of ice cream or cake? i wonder if my body just knows what different nutrients it needs to function or if it really is just some type of psychological or availability type of reaction.

Food linked memories

Its kinda crazy how our memories work. It's like everything around us is a trigger to a different memory. For me everything has a memory attached to it: a song, scent, picture, word, and taste.
Lately, I have been noticing how everything i eat reminds me of something in my past. For example today i was drinking white chocolate hot chocolate and was just thrown back to the first time i ever had it. It was about a year ago with my older sister at a starbucks near our home after a track meet. I remember we got an extra one for my dad and i was holding it in my lap on the drive home. Luckily, we went speeding over an unseen bump and the hot chocolate spilled all over my legs and track uniform. Ya, i wasn't very happy about that one. It's funny though because even though it was an unpleasant memory i can still enjoy the drink. Usually i am not so lucky, like when a food makes me sick i can never eat it again because it is just not appetizing to me. Or a food that reminds me of a certain date. Of course food is not the only memory sparker, but seeing as that was my experience for the day and we are expected to write about food that is the anecdote you get for today. But really my question is how do these memories even form because a lot of times they are not even traumatic. Hmmmm... that would be an interesting bit of information or fun fact/conversation starter.

stealth mode

Haha okay so i just have to start this story off by saying that it was three o'clock in the morning, none of us were tired, and we were really bored.

My room mates and I find joy in well bothering other people when they least expect it and of course not revealing that we did it. I am sure you hav all played pranks on some poor unsuspecting victim. So then i am sure that you all know that it is pretty entertaining.

We decided to paint our faces and dress in all black, well with the exception of my beanie. Then we popped ten bags of pop corn and taped pages of newspaper together. So off we went with our supplies, giggling as quietly as possible of course, to our friends apartment a couple of buildings down. We taped the newspaper half-way up the outside of their front door, leaving room between the paper and the door so we could dump the pop corn in. So after we dumped all the pop corn out we finished taping the newspaper up the door.

All I have to say is that i wish i could have been there to see them open their front door only to find pop corn fall in on them. But i wasn't there so, i guess you could say i feel kinda deprived. I just need some closure on that i guess.
